PictureBucher’s Bistro hosted the Confluence Tap Handle during March 2016 partnering with Factotum Brewhouse.
For the month of March, Ballpark neighborhood restaurant Butcher’s Bistro promised to donate $1 to Veterans to Farmers for every pint of Factotum Brewhouse’s Intensity Break Coffee Brown Ale poured from the  Confluence Tap Handle. Butcher’s Bistro sold over 150 pints during the month resulting in a donation over $150.

“Working with local nonprofit organizations allows us to say thank you to our community and the people who work hard. It also allows us to accomplish our goals as a local restaurant and be a proud supporter of the Colorado economy,” said Butcher’s Bistro bartender Andrew Howe.

On March 2, Butcher’s Bistro hosted a Launch Party to celebrate Veterans to Farmers work and introduce more of their patrons to their work. The event was a success that included dishes made with ingredients grown by some of the Veterans participating in Veterans to Farmers programs.

Veterans to Farmers provides American veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts with pride, education and fulfillment through a permanent source of sustainable income, community and contribution. Veterans to Farmers ensures a path to a secure economic future, that also leads to a sustainable future of food. The charity helps veterans attain this through management in an up-and-coming greenhouse franchise that sells CSA shares year-round, employment opportunities with greenhouses selling food to restaurants and grocery stores, or providing further education and support to help veterans start their own greenhouse business.

Partnering in the collaboration was Sunnyside neighborhood brewery Factotum Brewhouse. Factotum Brewhouse is a unique brewery as all beers brewed at Factotum are recipes sourced from our local community members who then come in and brew alongside our staff to create a one-of-a-kind beer that is served to the public.

The Confluence Tap Handle is a giving initiative for restaurants to use to give back to the community by partnering with craft breweries. “It was a great month at Butcher’s Bistro,” said Confluence Tap Handle founder Brian Phipps, “We are always amazed by the fantastic support by businesses that exists in Denver. Butcher’s Bistro and Factotum Brewhouse deeply care about the Denver community and their support for Veterans to Farmers proves that.”

Confluence Tap - March Location

We are excited to announce our next location will be at Butcher's Bistro in Downtown Denver for the entire month of March.

On tap will be Factotum Brewhouse's Intensity Break Coffee Brown Ale (5.8 percent ABV, 23.3 IBUs). The beer is American-style brown ale was infused with coffee and French oak post-fermentation.  The aroma, most of the flavor, and the caffeinated effect it has on the drinker are all from the coffee but the oak imparts a touch of vanilla that keeps the toasted and roasted flavors in check. Intensity Break finishes very, very dry.

For every pint of Intensity Break sold, $1 will be donated to Veterans to Farmers. The Veterans to Farmers mission is to provide American veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts with pride, education and fulfillment through a permanent source of sustainable income, community and contribution: the family farm.

If you are interested about how the program works or how to get businesses involved, please check out www.ConfluenceTap.com.

Denver Bicycle Cafe raises over $700 for Trips for Kids Denver through Confluence Tap Handle program

PictureThe Confluence Tap Handle, featured above with the blue handle and yellow star, was at the Denver Bicycle Cafe last month serving pints of Mockery Brewing’s Rakau IPA and raising $1 for Trips for Kids for every pint sold.
For the month of November, the Denver Bicycle Cafe promised to donate $1 to Trips for Kids Denver for every pint of Mockery Brewing’s Rakau IPA that was poured from the new Confluence Tap Handle. The Denver Bicycle Cafe sold 783 pints resulting in a $783 donation.

“As a community organization we love to reinvest our efforts into our local nonprofits. We host events and fundraisers to give back and feel spurred on by our friends to continue those efforts,” said Denver Bicycle Cafe co-owner Jessica Caouette.

“We are very excited about the success of this first Confluence Tap Handle and that the donation can make a real difference in the lives of low-income youth in our community,” said Confluence founder Brian Phipps. “We are currently looking for restaurants or bars around Denver to host the next taps so we can continue to provide a resource for the charities in our communities.”

Partnering in the collaboration was River North Art District’s Mockery Brewing. Owner Zach Rabun said he was “Excited to be a part of the Confluence Charity Tap Handle program.  Anytime we can use our beer to help charitable causes, it is a win-win!”

The donation to Trips for Kids Denver will give lower-income, diverse youth the opportunity to experience and learn about the natural beauty of Colorado from the seat of a mountain bike. In 2015, Trips for Kids Denver served 3,000 youth through their four programs: Ride Program; Earn-a-Bike program; its community bike shop: the Lucky Bikes Re-Cyclery; and its newest program, Youth-at-Work.

The Confluence Tap Handle program is a collaboration managed by Confluence, a corporate social responsibility firm, to further the community engagement practices of restaurants and craft beverage makers. Confluence’s vision is to have an identifiable brand where customers who see the Confluence Tap Handle will know that a portion of sales always goes to charity and that a different craft beverage will be served each month.
