For the month of June, Los Tacos promised to donate $1 to A Precious Child for every pint of Renegade Brewing Company’s Redacted Rye IPA that was poured from the Confluence Tap Handle. Over 200 pints were sold resulting in a donation of over $200.

“Being part of the outstanding Denver community is a privilege,” said Los Tacos owner Micah Armijo. This was the second month Los Tacos hosted the Confluence Tap which previously donated proceeds from sales in April to Mount Saint Vincent.

The donation will support A Precious Child, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to making a positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged and displaced children and families in Colorado by improving their quality of life.

In addition to their Redacted Rye IPA being on the Confluence Tap. Renegade also matched each gallon of beer sold by donating a gallon of clean drinking water as a part of their new Tap 4 Tap program. The Tap 4 Tap program was launched earlier this year and is a one for one business model made famous by Tom’s Shoes.

The Confluence Tap Handle program is a collaboration managed by Confluence, a corporate social responsibility firm. “We are thrilled with the Confluence Tap Handle success at Los Tacos and the amount of money raised for the youth who benefit from A Precious Child’s servies,” said Confluence founder Brian Phipps.

Confluence’s vision is to have an identifiable brand where customers who see the Confluence Tap Handle will know that a portion of sales always goes to charity and that a different craft beverage will be served each month.

Last week on PorchDrinking.com, we shared how craft beer gave back to its communities in 2015 and using a variety of methods. One example is New Belgium Brewing and Ben & Jerry's collaboration which raised $100,000 for Protect Our Winters by creating both a beer product and an ice cream product. Other stories include Deschutes Brewery, Fort Collins Brewery, Ore Dock Brewing Company,

PictureThe Confluence Tap Handle, featured above with the blue handle and yellow star, was at the Denver Bicycle Cafe last month serving pints of Mockery Brewing’s Rakau IPA and raising $1 for Trips for Kids for every pint sold.
For the month of November, the Denver Bicycle Cafe promised to donate $1 to Trips for Kids Denver for every pint of Mockery Brewing’s Rakau IPA that was poured from the new Confluence Tap Handle. The Denver Bicycle Cafe sold 783 pints resulting in a $783 donation.

“As a community organization we love to reinvest our efforts into our local nonprofits. We host events and fundraisers to give back and feel spurred on by our friends to continue those efforts,” said Denver Bicycle Cafe co-owner Jessica Caouette.

“We are very excited about the success of this first Confluence Tap Handle and that the donation can make a real difference in the lives of low-income youth in our community,” said Confluence founder Brian Phipps. “We are currently looking for restaurants or bars around Denver to host the next taps so we can continue to provide a resource for the charities in our communities.”

Partnering in the collaboration was River North Art District’s Mockery Brewing. Owner Zach Rabun said he was “Excited to be a part of the Confluence Charity Tap Handle program.  Anytime we can use our beer to help charitable causes, it is a win-win!”

The donation to Trips for Kids Denver will give lower-income, diverse youth the opportunity to experience and learn about the natural beauty of Colorado from the seat of a mountain bike. In 2015, Trips for Kids Denver served 3,000 youth through their four programs: Ride Program; Earn-a-Bike program; its community bike shop: the Lucky Bikes Re-Cyclery; and its newest program, Youth-at-Work.

The Confluence Tap Handle program is a collaboration managed by Confluence, a corporate social responsibility firm, to further the community engagement practices of restaurants and craft beverage makers. Confluence’s vision is to have an identifiable brand where customers who see the Confluence Tap Handle will know that a portion of sales always goes to charity and that a different craft beverage will be served each month.

Getting your corporate giving going on Colorado Gives Day

12/8/2015

What started in 2010 as a goal to get $1 million raised in one day has grown into a $26.2 million giving extravaganza. Today is Colorado Gives Day and a day for your business to show how it cares about the community.

Last year's Colorado Gives Day was very successful:
  • Donations from 2013 to 2014 increased by 28 percent to a total of $26.2 million donated to 1,677 charities.
  • Number of donors increased by 13.46 percent.
  • Number of donations went from 20,119 in 2010 to 88,571 in 2013 to 108,547 in 2014.

Check out the graphs below for just how big Colorado Gives Day has become.

Last year we shared eight actions your business can take to show support for the charities in your community. One of the biggest corporate donors is First Bank who last year set up a $600,000 matching incentive fund. This means that for all the donations a charity received of the overall total donations that were made, the charity will receive that same percentage of funds from the First Bank matching incentive.
For you business, we encourage you today to share on your social media a link to your charity's donation page for your followers to click on. Include photographs and information about how your business has helped this year. Include this information on the front page of your website for the day and write a blog post if you have one. If your business has a physical shopping space for customers, please share on chalkboards, checkout areas and make announcements.

If possible, make your business' donation today to be a part of the program. Encourage other business partners or competitors to match your own donation.

Today is the day for your business to share its favorite charity's mission, inform how others can help, and tell how your business is helping. Corporate social responsibility  is a year-round activity, but today is one of those days your organization MUST be active.
