Since 2008, the brewery and its Left Hand Brewing Co. Foundation has raised over $2.9 million for charities. In 2016, Left Hand Brewing Co. in Longmont, Colorado, raised over $800,000 through a variety of channels.

Recently, New Belgium Brewing Company was awarded Platinum certification by the U.S. Zero Waste Business Council. Most incredibly, New Belgium diverts 99.9 percent of its waste away from landfills. New Belgium joins Sierra Nevada Brewing Company as the only other US commercial brewery to achieve this status.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company opened a new facility in the fall of 2014. In the summer of 2016, it was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the US Green Building Council. In addition, it was certified at the highest level, Platinum, which no other commercial brewery in the United States has yet to achieve.
