For the month of March, Ballpark neighborhood restaurant Butcher’s Bistro promised to donate $1 to Veterans to Farmers for every pint of Factotum Brewhouse’s Intensity Break Coffee Brown Ale poured from the Confluence Tap Handle. Butcher’s Bistro sold over 150 pints during the month resulting in a donation over $150.
“Working with local nonprofit organizations allows us to say thank you to our community and the people who work hard. It also allows us to accomplish our goals as a local restaurant and be a proud supporter of the Colorado economy,” said Butcher’s Bistro bartender Andrew Howe.
On March 2, Butcher’s Bistro hosted a Launch Party to celebrate Veterans to Farmers work and introduce more of their patrons to their work. The event was a success that included dishes made with ingredients grown by some of the Veterans participating in Veterans to Farmers programs.
Veterans to Farmers provides American veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts with pride, education and fulfillment through a permanent source of sustainable income, community and contribution. Veterans to Farmers ensures a path to a secure economic future, that also leads to a sustainable future of food. The charity helps veterans attain this through management in an up-and-coming greenhouse franchise that sells CSA shares year-round, employment opportunities with greenhouses selling food to restaurants and grocery stores, or providing further education and support to help veterans start their own greenhouse business.
Partnering in the collaboration was Sunnyside neighborhood brewery Factotum Brewhouse. Factotum Brewhouse is a unique brewery as all beers brewed at Factotum are recipes sourced from our local community members who then come in and brew alongside our staff to create a one-of-a-kind beer that is served to the public.
